Farra

Farra recipe : Steamed rice rings

Gujarati recipes are always in talk among people for their variety of snacks. Here is the most simple and tasty recipe 'Farra' which is a good option for hi-tea. 




Preparation time : 10 mins
Cooking time : 20 mins
Servings :3

Ingredients: (for 8-10 rings)

Rice flour                     1 cup
Ginger1/4tsp(paste)
Green chillies1/2tsp(paste)
Coriander1/4tsp(paste)
Saltas required
Cumin seeds1tsp
Dry red chillies2
Sesame seeds1/2tsp
Garlic3-4 cloves

Method : How to Prepare

  1. Mix rice flour, ginger paste, green chili paste, coriander paste, salt, cumin seeds to form a stiff dough. 
  2. Roll this dough into thin cylindrical rolls and form ring as show in the picture above.
  3. Pour 3 cups of water in steamer container and bring it to boil.
  4. Place these rings inside the steamer over the plate, cover the lid and let it cook for 15 minutes(if you don't have steamer then take a deep vessel and pour water in it. Place this rings on plate and keep it over the vessel and cover the container).
For Tempering:
Heat oil in a pan, add dry red chillies, sesame seeds and whole garlic cloves.
Put rings into it and saute for 3-4 mins. And serve hot!

You can have these Farra with tomato sauce or any other pickle. One of the quick and easy starters before any meal.
