Evening snacks is a daily headache for all moms. They always have to search different snacks to fulfill their children demands. Generally, moms have to look for such snacks which are easily made and at the same time  they are healthy too. Khandvi sev is one of such option, it is a good combination of Besan and curd along with aromatic seasoning of cumin and mustard seeds. Once you have made the besan paste correctly, it is very simple after that. Here is the recipe to try this at home.



Preparation time : 10mins
Cooking time : 15 mins
Servings : 4

Ingredients:(For 4-5 people)


Gram flour(Besan)                              1 cup
Buttermilk1 cup
Water2 cup
Turmeric powder1/2tsp
Saltas per taste
Curry leaves10-15 for garnish
Green chillies(slightly chopped)3
Oil2tbsp
Cumin seeds(jeera)1/2tsp
Mustard seeds(rai)1/2tsp
Lemon2-3 drops
Coriander leavesfor garnish

Method: How to prepare


  • Mix besan, buttermilk, lemon juice and water in a pan. Mix it well with hands by avoiding lumps.
  • Add Turmeric powder, salt and keep the pan on low flame. Stir continuously for about 8 to10 minutes till it forms a thick paste.
  • Let this cool down for 5 mins. To make sev their is a special kind of machine which is available in general Indian utensil shops, so will use this machine to make sev. Now we will pour our paste into this machine (as shown below).

  • Now turn around the handle and besan will come out in the form of noodles on plate as shown below.

  • Wait for 1 minute and collect this noodle in another deep pan. Repeat the process for rest of the prepared besan. The pan will look like this when its done.

  • For garnishing  take 2tbsp of oil in a separate pan. Add cumin seeds, mustard seeds and wait till it crackles. Now add curry leaves and take out of the flame.
  • Pour this tempering evenly on noodles and garnish with coriander.


Serve hot.

It is same as Gujrati Khandvi, which is just another form of presentation. The procedure and taste is almost same. Kids will like it because it looks like maggie or noodles. So, try this healthy noodles at home and make your kids happy.
